World Competition Database
The World Competition Database is a unique project that has been conceived and developed by the GW Competition Law Center (CLC) over many years. It is a platform that provides useful information about competition agencies and applicable laws worldwide, including agencies’ structure, institutional design, legal powers, management, decision-making process, and other key characteristics that shape the implementation of competition policy. The Database is designed to be an accessible, user-friendly tool for both practitioners and the general public.
The Database has developed profiles compiling information about jurisdictions across Africa, Asia, Europe, North, Central and South America, Oceania, the Pacific and the Caribbean. It is a project that will continuously expand towards gathering information from an increasing number of jurisdictions, including both members of the International Competition Network (ICN) and non-ICN members.
The Database is the result of the CLC’s independent research only. Through a collaborative approach, we invite competition agencies and practitioners around the globe to provide their feedback and comments on the Database profiles the CLC has prepared for their respective jurisdictions. The Database form is available on our website and can be reviewed, commented on, and adjusted accordingly by contributors, including to reflect any recent changes in competition policy. Such contributions would be greatly appreciated and would help the GW Competition Law Center to keep providing comprehensive data for practitioners worldwide. The Georgian competition regime is based on the Law on Competition enacted in 2012 and the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights enacted in 2022.
The competition law regime in Germany is primarily governed by the German Act Against Restrictions of Competition, enacted in 1958.
Guernsey's competition law is founded on the Competition (Enabling Provisions) Law of 2009, Competition Ordinance of 2012 and the Authority Ordinance of 2012.
Honduras Competition Regime is contained in Decree no. 357/2005 which was last modified on enacted in 2015.
Hong Kong’s Competition Ordinance (Cap. 619) was enacted in 2012. HKCC, an independent body formed in 2013, enforces it and is led by a Chairperson and Commissioners.
India’s Competition Act is enforced by the CCI, an independent authority overseeing mergers, investigations, and anti-competitive conduct to ensure fair markets.
Indonesia’s Competition Law was enacted in March 1999. The Competition Commission, formed in 2000, is an independent body with Commissioners appointed by the President.
Ireland’s Competition Act was enacted in 2002 and amended in 2014. The CCPC, formed in 2014, is an independent body led by a Chairperson and Commissioners.
The Jamaican competition legal framework is based on the Fair Competition Act (FCA) enacted in 1993, which is enforced by the Fair Trading Commission.
