The Competition Ordinance (Cap. 619) was enacted in 2012. It is Hong Kong's first cross-sector competition law, designed to prohibit anti-competitive agreements, abuse of market power, and restrictive mergers in the telecommunications sector. The Hong Kong Competition Commission (HKCC) was established in 2013 to enforce the Competition Ordinance. The HKCC is an independent statutory body, consisting of a Chairperson and Commissioners, appointed by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong.
