The Competition Act of Ireland was enacted in 2002 and later amended by the Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2014. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) was established in 2014 following the merger of the Competition Authority and the National Consumer Agency. The CCPC is an independent statutory body led by a Chairperson and Commissioners, appointed by the Government of Ireland.
