The Jamaican competition legal framework is based on the Fair Competition Act (FCA) enacted in 1993. Such statute established the Fair Trading Commission (Jamaican FTC) as the administrative body responsible for enforcing the FCA, including by carrying out investigations and determining whether infringements to the law have occurred. The Jamaican FTC is composed of a minimum of three and a maximum of five Commissioners. Whenever the Commission finds a business or individual guilty of anticompetitive practices, it may ask judicial courts to impose penalties.
