Visiting Scholar from the Egyptian Competition Authority
Sarah Samir is a legal researcher in economic concentrations department at the Egyptian Competition Authority. She holds a master’s degree from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in International and European Business Law, after obtaining a dual Law degree from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Cairo University.
Working at ECA, her experience involves leading and working on several antitrust cases covering a wide range of sectors. In addition to reviewing and drafting statements of objections, statements of infringement, and conducting market studies. Additionally, her work involved leading the drafting of ECA’s guidelines in the school uniforms sectors which formed a part of an extensive market study, resulting in enforcing competition law in the said markets and winning reader’s choice award in Concurrences 2024 Awards in Africa and Middle East region, besides participating in drafting policy papers regarding competition law and policy in Egypt and guidelines concerning the implementation of Egypt’s first ex-ante merger control regime. And at GWU, Sarah will engage with the Competition Law Center to conduct her research paper on Competition Law Enforcement in the Informal Economy.
