The Japanese Fair Trade Commission (“JFTC” or “Fair Trade Commission”) is the authority with powers to enforce the competition laws in the entire Japanese territory. The FTC was created by the Act on Prohibition of Private Monopolization and Maintenance of Fair Trade enacted in 1947 ("AMA"), pursuant to Article 27(1), Chapter VIII. The JFTC is an independent administrative agency, attached to the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan, as per Article 27 (2) of the AMA.
