On October 6, 2025, the George Washington University Law School’s Competition Law Center (CLC) hosted a special event as part of its Institutional Builder Series to honor Mr. Chris White, whose exceptional leadership and over four decades of public service have profoundly shaped the field of competition law and strengthened the institutional framework of the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Throughout his more than 40-year career, Mr. White has exemplified integrity, professionalism, and dedication to advancing sound competition policy and institutional excellence. His work has left a lasting impact on both the national and international competition communities, influencing policy development and regulatory practice across jurisdictions.
The program, introduced by Professor William Kovacic, featured reflections from Lydia Parnes, Mary Azcuenaga, Peter Kinzler, Kathleen Fulp, Tom Stanton, Lee Peeler, and Steve Calkins, who shared personal and professional insights into Mr. White’s remarkable contributions and leadership.
In his closing remarks, Mr. White offered thoughtful reflections on leadership, mentorship, and the collaborative spirit that underpins effective public service and institutional success.
The event is part of the Institutional Builder Series, an ongoing initiative of the GW Competition Law Center that recognizes and celebrates distinguished officials from public agencies whose careers have significantly contributed to the development of competition policy and institutional capacity in the field.
