The competition regime in Ecuador is founded on the Organic Law for the Regulation and Control of Market Power (“Ley Orgánica de Regulación y Control del Poder de Mercado”), enacted October 13, 2011. The enforcement authority is the Superintendency for the Control of Market Power (“Superintendencia de Control del Poder de Mercado”, SCPM). The authorities began operations in or around late 2012.
