The Competition and Consumer Act was enacted in 2010. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) was established in 1995. The ACCC is an independent Commonwealth statutory authority. The ACCC operates under the oversight of the Treasury and is governed by a Chairperson and several Commissioners.
